(Carson City, NV; June 5, 2018) – Secretary of State Barbara Cegavske reminds all candidates running, or who filed to run, for a statewide, county, or local elected office in Nevada that the deadline to file Contributions and Expenses (C&E) Report #2 is no later than 11:59 p.m. on Friday, June 8, 2018.  All C&E Reports must be filed electronically through Aurora, Nevada’s campaign finance disclosure database.  Failure to file a C&E Report by the deadline carries a fine of up to $5,000.

Contribution and Expense Report #2 covers campaign contributions and expenses from May 19, 2018 to June 7, 2018.

Every candidate, including candidates who filed to run but who are not on the primary election ballot, must report all contributions and campaign expenses in excess of $100 and multiple contributions from a single contributor that cumulatively exceed $100.  Every candidate must also report the aggregate total of all contributions and campaign expenses of $100 or less; however, candidates are not required to itemize these contributions and campaign expenses.

The C&E filing deadlines for the remainder of the 2018 election cycle are:

  • October 16, 2018 - C&E Report #3 Due (for the period of June 8 to October 12)
  • November 2, 2018 - C&E Report #4 Due (for the period of October 13 to November 1)
  • January 15, 2019 - C&E Report #5 Due (for the period of November 2 to December 31)

Every candidate is required to file a C&E Report even if he or she: (1) withdraws his or her candidacy; (2) ends his or her campaign without withdrawing; (3) receives no contributions; (4) has no campaign expenses; (5) is not opposed in the election by another candidate; (6) is defeated in the primary election; (7) is removed from the ballot by court order; or (8) is the subject of a petition to recall and the special election is not held.

Aurora provides instant notification of filed or amended campaign finance reports.  If you would like to receive an e-mail notification when a candidate submits or amends a report, choose the “Follow this Candidate/Group” option next to the individual’s or group’s name.
