Year End Active Voter Registration Numbers Show Small Increase

(Carson City, NV; January 11, 2017) - Secretary of State Barbara Cegavske reports a small increase of 943 active registered voters (0.06%) statewide as of January 9, 2017, compared to the numbers at the end of November 2016, bringing the total number of active registered Nevada voters to 1,505,957. 

Two party affiliation groups had a small decrease in total number of active registered voters.  Democrat active registered voters decreased statewide by 147 (-0.02%) and a compilation of “other” minor political parties decreased by 21 (-0.12%). 

Of the 1,505,957 active registered voters in Nevada:

• 595,669 (39.55%) are Democrats;
• 498,582 (33.11%) are Republicans;
• 314,374 (20.88%) are Nonpartisan;
• 66,050 (4.39%) are members of the Independent American Party;
• 13,933 (0.93%) are members of the Libertarian Party of Nevada; and
• 17,349 (1.15%) are members of other minor political parties.

Independent American and Libertarian parties had the strongest percent increases in active registered voters.  Independent American increased by 420 active registered voters (0.64%) and Libertarian by 111 (0.80%).  Nonpartisan increased by 548 active registered voters, an increase of 0.17%. Republican active voters increased by 32 active registered voters (0.01%).
