All applicants must submit a complete set of fingerprints to the Central Repository for Nevada Records of Criminal History for submission to the Federal Bureau of Investigation for a background check. As part of the application, an applicant provides authorization for the Nevada Secretary of State to receive this report from the Central Repository for Nevada Records of Criminal History.
There are two costs for fingerprinting: administrative and processing. The administrative fee for getting your fingerprints is set by the individual fingerprinting sites. The Department of Public Safety charges for processing a background check.
To submit fingerprints:
Follow these instructions to ensure successful processing of your fingerprints:
1. Select an approved LiveScan fingerprint site from the Nevada Department of Public Safety approved list of Private Fingerprint Sites. Click here for the list of vendors and fingerprinting fees.
2. Print and complete a Secretary of State Fingerprint Request Form and a Fingerprint Background Waiver and bring these to the LiveScan fingerprinting vendor. The LiveScan vendor must see your Waiver and will sign the Request Form.
3. Once your fingerprints have been submitted, mail or deliver both the Fingerprint Request Form and Fingerprint Background Waiver, completed and signed, to:
Nevada Secretary of State
Document Preparation Services
555 E. Washington Ave, Ste. 5200
Las Vegas, NV 89101
Allow approximately 45 days for processing upon receipt by the Repository.
If any of the above items are missing or incomplete, the request will not be processed which will cause delays or rejection of your application.
