Secretary Cegavske Reports Small Decrease in Active Registered Voters in April

(Carson City, NV; May 2, 2017) – Nevada Secretary of State Barbara Cegavske reports that due to routine list maintenance by several Nevada counties, a small decrease of 630 active registered voters statewide occurred during the month of April 2017, as compared to March 2017.  The total number of active registered voters in Nevada is 1,475,280, a decrease of 0.04%.

Two party affiliated groups had a decrease in the total number of active registered voters.  Democratic Party active registered voters decreased statewide by 227 (0.04%), and Republican Party active registered voters decreased by 1,026 (0.21%). 

Nonpartisan, Independent American Party, Libertarian Party, and active registered voters from a compilation of “other” minor political parties had small increases in active registered voters. Nonpartisan active registered voters increased statewide by 272 (0.09%), Libertarian active registered voters increased statewide by 62 (0.45%), Independent American active registered voters increased statewide by 2 (0.00%), and active registered voters from a compilation of “other” minor political parties increased statewide by 287 (1.71%).

Of the 1,475,280 active registered voters in Nevada:

• 581,133 are Democrats (39.39%);

• 489,222 are Republicans (33.16%);

• 308,810 are Nonpartisan (20.93%);

• 65,168 are members of the Independent American Party (4.42%);

• 13,868 are members of the Libertarian Party of Nevada (0.94%); and

• 17,079 are members of other minor political parties (1.16%).
