Secretary Cegavske Reports Small Decrease in Active Registered Voters in January 2017

(Carson City, NV; February 1, 2017) – Nevada Secretary of State Barbara Cegavske reports that due to routine list maintenance by several Nevada counties, a small decrease of 882 active registered voters statewide occurred during the month of January 2017, as compared to December 2016. The total number of active registered voters in Nevada is 1,505,075.

Four party affiliation groups had a small decrease in the total number of active registered voters.  Democratic Party active registered voters decreased statewide by 340 (-0.06%), Independent American Party active registered voters decreased statewide by 19 (-0.03%), Republican Party active registered voters decreased statewide by 569 (-0.11%), and active registered voters from a compilation of “other” minor political parties decreased by 45 (-0.26%). 

Nonpartisan and the Libertarian Party had small increases in active registered voters.  Nonpartisan active registered voters increased statewide by 76 (0.02%) and Libertarian Party active registered voters increased statewide by 15 (0.11%). 

Of the 1,505,075 active registered voters in Nevada:

• 595,329 (39.55%) are Democrats;

• 498,013 (33.09%) are Republicans;

• 314,450 (20.89%) are Nonpartisan;

• 66,031 (4.39%) are members of the Independent American Party;

• 13,948 (0.93%) are members of the Libertarian Party of Nevada; and

• 17,304 (1.15%) are members of other minor political parties.
