Secretary Miller Says Election Command Center Proving Successful

Carson City, NV – Secretary of State Ross Miller announced today that the office’s election command center has been successful thus far. Implemented as a pilot program for the 2008 election, the command center includes technical support, a centralized information and complaint hotline and criminal investigators on duty to respond to election irregularities. The command center became operational at the start of early voting and will conclude after tomorrow’s municipal elections.

Secretary of State personnel and information technology specialists underwent training on the system, software and components of the electronic voting machines to provide support for election administrators. The center provides centralized technological support to assist with the administration of Nevada’s electronic voting machines, especially in rural areas.

The hotline has been set up to provide assistance and to properly address any election issues. Criminal investigators are on duty to respond to any complaints.  No voting irregularities have been substantiated thus far.

“The command center has proven to be a great tool for upholding the integrity of the election process,” said Secretary Miller. “We hope the center provides citizens with a greater assurance that their vote is protected.”
