Statewide Voter Registration System Up and Ready

Carson City, NV – Secretary of State Ross Miller announced today that NevVoter, a statewide centralized voter registration database, is now available online through the Secretary of State's website.

NevVoter allows citizens to request the eligible voter list online and can customize a search by political party, precinct number, registration date and/or voter age. Nevada is one of a few states that offer an online database that allows a user to customize their search. NevVoter is the result of the Help America Vote Act (HAVA), which requires all states to maintain a statewide voter file.

"One of my top priorities for the office's Elections Division is to expand its web-based services, making access to public records simple and convenient, while maintaining the safety and security of the election process," said Secretary of State Ross Miller. "With Nevada having early caucuses," he added, "we have started preparing for the 2008 presidential election, and this online registration database will be a useful tool, providing current and accurate records of voters in this state."

The voter registration list can be accessed free of charge at www.secretaryofstate.biz. Access is granted once a web account is created and the official request form is filed with and verified by the Secretary of State’s Elections Division.

Nevada counties will continue to provide access to the individual county's voter registration records as well as provide lists of voter history, an option that is not available through NevVoter.
