(Carson City, NV; September 15, 2009) – Secretary of State Ross Miller has posted the 2010 State of Nevada Election Calendar and the 2010 Initiative & Referendum Guide on his website. Both documents are available under the Election Center at www.nvsos.gov
The Election Calendar lists the new candidate filing dates, voter registration deadlines, and other important dates that have changed due to the 2009 Legislature’s decision to move the primary election from August to June. The calendar also lists all the dates by which candidates must file their contribution and expenditure reports and their statements of financial disclosure.
“Every candidate for office should take a close look at the 2010 election calendar,” said Secretary Miller. “They need to be aware of their responsibility to provide information to the voting public about who is contributing to their campaigns and how they are spending the money they raise.”
The Secretary of State’s Office publishes the documents as a public service for voters, issue advocates, and candidates. They are intended for general information purposes only and do not have the force of law, rule, or regulation. Interested individuals should also read the state statutes referenced in the documents and watch for any Attorney General opinions or court decisions that impact the election process.
