(Carson City, NV; December 20, 2013) – The Nevada Secretary of State’s 2014 Financial Disclosure Statement Guide is now available online in an effort to answer questions regarding the filing of Financial Disclosure Statements (FDS) by elected and appointed public officers, and candidates. The guide covers questions regarding who must file the statements, what should be reported, and deadlines and procedures for filing the mandatory disclosure.
“The personal finance disclosure statutes are a way to ensure transparency in the political process, and are something that public officers, candidates and voters alike should take very seriously,” said Nevada Secretary of State Ross Miller. “This guide is provided to promote consistency for all of these stakeholders so they will have a better understanding of the kind of financial information expected from public officers.”
Included in the FDS are disclosures regarding gifts received by public officials, as well as disclosures of certain assets, debts, and sources of income. The new Financial Disclosure Statement Guide is accessible online at by clicking here. The completed FDS forms can be viewed in AURORA, the Secretary of State’s online campaign finance disclosure website. Interested citizens should obtain the most recent version of the Nevada Revised Statutes, as Nevada’s election laws are amended each legislative session.
