SECRETARY OF STATE ANNOUNCES NEW DEPUTY FOR SOUTHERN NEVADA
Posted Date: 3/4/2009

Carson City, NV; March 4, 2009) –Secretary of State Ross Miller today announced the appointment of Robert E. Walsh to the position of Deputy Secretary of State for Southern Nevada. Walsh has served as the Public Information Officer (PIO) for the Secretary of State’s office since June of 2007. In the new position, Walsh will continue to handle many of the PIO duties, as well as the functions of Deputy Secretary of State as defined in NRS 225.060.

“Bob Walsh brings a resume of broad experience to the deputy position,” said Miller. “He has worked in state government, as well as an executive in the private sector, and as someone who has worked in those fields in Southern Nevada for more than 25 years he has a solid understanding of the southern part of the state.”

“I’m honored to accept this appointment,” said Walsh. “I believe Secretary Miller is committed to taking the office to new levels of service for Nevadans, and to be part of that is a great opportunity.”
Walsh’s professional experience includes several years as a journalist with KLAS-TV (CBS); speechwriter for Nevada Governor Bob Miller; Director of Communications for Nevada Lt. Governor Lorraine Hunt; and executive communications positions in the gaming and manufacturing industries.
