Nevada allows absentee voting. Each county clerk/registrar must make reasonable accommodations for the use of the absent ballot by both elderly persons and persons with a disability, including providing an absent ballot in 12-point type upon request.
Absentee voting requests must be received by August 5, 2008 for the 2008 August Primary and by October 28, 2008 for the 2008 November General Election. Contact your county clerk/registrar to request an absentee ballot application.
At this time, Nevada does not allow permanent absentee status. If you are requesting to vote absentee because of a physical disability, medical condition or are over the age of 65, please contact your county clerk/registrar to find out if your specific circumstances may qualify you for any special absentee arrangements in Nevada.
Requesting Emergency Absentee Status after Statutory Request Date Has Elapsed
Nevada has an emergency absentee voting program. An absent ballot can be brought to you at a hospital or other medical facility in certain emergency circumstances. Requests for an emergency absent ballot must be made in writing and submitted any time before 5:00 p.m. on the day of the election. Such requests must be due to an illness or disability resulting in confinement to a medical facility (includes nursing homes), sudden hospitalization, serious illness, or being called away from home after the time has elapsed for requesting a standard absentee ballot. Please contact your county clerk/registrar for more information.
