All registrants must complete submit a complete set of fingerprints to the Central Repository for Nevada Records of Criminal History for submission to the Federal Bureau of Investigation for a background check. As part of the application, an applicant provides authorization for the Secretary of State to receive this report from the Central Repository for Nevada Records of Criminal History.
Please follow these step-by-step procedures to ensure an accurate and efficient processing of your fingerprints.
1. Select a fingerprinting site.
2. Print and complete a Fingerprint Request form to bring to your fingerprinting site. Keep the Fingerprint Request form for your own records. DO NOT send to the Secretary of State's office.
3. You may also want to take a sample of a properly completed Applicant Information section on the fingerprint card with you to the fingerprinting site.
4. After your fingerprints are completed, confirm with your technician whether or not their charges include the Department of Public Safety processing fee. Please check the DPS website for most current fees (DPS Website). If the fingerprinting entity’s price does include the Department of Public Safety’s processing fee (check DPS website for most current), do not send additional payment. If the fingerprinting entity does NOT include the Department of Public Safety’s processing fee, send the fingerprint card AND payment by money order or cashier’s check (check DPS website for most current) made payable to the Department of Public Safety Records Bureau to:
