2002 RECOUNT RESULTS

Nevada Revised Statute ("NRS") 293.403 provides that any defeated candidate may demand and receive a recount of the votes for the office the candidate sought. Debbie Smith, candidate for Assembly District 30, requested a recount of the November 5, 2002 General Election results. Of the 49 total voting precincts within Assembly District 30, there were four precincts results that were recounted by hand. These four precincts along with the remaining 45 precincts were subsequently recounted by Washoe County's Accu-Vote (AV) voting system. This recount procedure was done pursuant to NRS 293.404(4). The recount occurred on November 18th and 19th, 2002.
